My dear reader,
Let’s talk about epiphanies. We all have them. They’re like miniature Big Bangs in the brain where one spark of a thought leads to an explosion that births a whole universe inside of you. Where there was darkness, now there is light. That light illuminates a single moment of time in your life, letting you view it from a different perspective and see how it shaped you and your journey.
Sometimes the spark comes from outside, from something seen or heard. It’s so random and unexpected, and I think that’s what makes it so pure. It’s unlike therapy, where after being asked to pull apart a memory for an hour to find the meaning behind it, you’re not completely certain if you’re being honest in your response, or if you’re making up the meaning just to satisfy the inquiry.
The epiphany I had this weekend came from the exterior, from something I heard on the podcast of a Paris-based acquaintance, On Becoming with Zeva Bellel. But before I talk about the epiphany, you’ll need some context.
